It sounded a bit different from the m/m contemporary romances and mysteries I’d been reading up to that point. I didn’t buy it in the end for two reasons: Firstly, it is a sci-fi, a genre I’ve not really read very much and I wasn’t sure whether I would like it and secondly, I’d not read anything previously by this author and was unable to find a review of the book. With so many books around by authors

Author: First Book Publish:2016 Books in series: 1 Avg. Book Rating:7.7 Characters: Commitment (Men Of Virtue Book 1) First published: October 11th 2016Rating: 7.72 stars GoodReads:Commitment Review: All right, I almost didn’t continue reading this one. I didn’t like Trevor at all in the beginning. I didn’t see how he could be redeemed for me but he was. The story ended up being surprisingly low angst and that allowed me to forgive him. Jack was the real winner. You know you’re invested in a character when you find yourself threatening to dismember another character if he hurts them haha!

Book Rating:6.9 Characters: Eight Second Cowboy (Eight Second Cowboy Book 1) First published: November 2nd 2013Rating: 6.92 stars GoodReads:Eight Second Cowboy Review: I’m not sure if I can put into words how awful this was. It felt like it was written by a tenth grader. Most of the five star reviews it seems are coming from virgin m/m readers. Please let me assure you if you’re reading this that you’d be better off popping your m/m cherry with authors like Abigail Roux, Amy Lane, Mary Calmes, R.J. Scott, SE Jakes, Kindle Alexander, etc. I just don’t get it. The prose is juvenile. The plot was entirely lacking…was there one? No real depth of characters…or

The prior book felt a little bit repetitive with the torture scenes and insular due to being in the camp the entire time. This book benefits from being more of an adventure story as the soldiers in love, who escaped in the prior book, travel back home evading capture and overcoming obstacles. They meet several colorful characters along the way who greet them hospitably. You can appreciate that Jeff has really done more research into the period setting than other authors. Sometimes with the descriptions, you can close your eyes and “see” Ian’s…

The first one is adorable and was my favorite.
