Christian/ Romance seems to be the genre here, and perhaps YA? Surprise to me in these three stories in one book: that thirty-somethings, both males and females, could live in this day and age, yet remain so emotionally/mentally immature, a few in the never-been-kissed category.. Book was a freebie, and I had some rainy-day reading time. For personal entertainment/satisfaction/enlightenment, I’d rate one star. But to be fair to the authors, and those who ap

The character development and names are a pleasure. I felt the scriptural references were VERY clunky and unrealistic in the beginning. The beginning was slow, but once the story was in full swing I enjoyed it immensely. I liked Light Birds Song (the second novel) much better even. Light Bird’s Song (People Of The Book Book 2) First published: August 31st 2007Rating: 9.36 stars GoodReads:Light Bird’s Song Review: Light Bird enjoyed life among her people. She was adored by both her family and clan, the only wrinkle being a warrior from a neighboring tribe who showed an interest she didn’t return. But his action set into motion a series of events that would rip Light Bird away from the peace, love and security that she had grown up with and plunge her into a world of uncertainty and despair with a man she didn’t know and could only fear.

Book Rating:8.2 Characters: Truth Stained Lies (Moonlighters Book 1) First published: March 11th 2013Rating: 8.18 stars GoodReads:Truth Stained Lies Review: This is a well-written mystery about brothers and sisters who come together to find out who killed their sister-in-law. They need to clear their brother’s name and reunite him with a 5-year-old son he has lost in a custody battle. The stakes are high and the resolution is satisfying. It’s a great mystery in its own right, but I especially like it because it deals with forgiveness and serving others. It has a strong Christian message without being preachy.

Both complement each other and the contemporary is linked to the historical. I love the way the author describes feelings and scenes to bring the reader right into the story. The characters are completely developed and the story does not drag in the slightest, in fact, I’d wished while I was reading it that I had more time at each sitting to devote to enjoying it.

Excellent description of midevil England. Olde dialect done extremely well. I became invested in the main characters lives and wanted all to be well with them as they encountered numerous dangers and threats.

I requested the book for two reasons. The first being that futuristic dystopian literature is still such a hot area for young adult fiction. I like to explore authors’ different takes on the prevalent theme. However, the bigger draw for me was the author herself, Marissa Shrock. She is a middle school language arts teacher, as I was once, publishing her first novel. So my assumption was that she would hav The Liberation (Emancipation Warriors Book 2) (Emancipation Warriors Book 2) First published: February 20th 2016Rating: 9.04 stars GoodReads:The Liberation (Emancipation Warriors Book 2) Review: In this sequel to The First Principle, Marissa Shrock writes one of the best Christian speculative novels I’ve read in a long time.
